Postcards
designed local.
Delivered by hand.

Direct mail design, printing, and delivery for businesses across Color Country — Kane, Washington, Iron, Garfield, and Beaver counties. One operator, start to finish, a few campaigns at a time.

§ 01 · WHAT WE DO A WRITTEN INTRODUCTION

Direct mail, done in person.

“The same person who quotes the job is the one who walks it to the post office.” — Operating principle

Utah Flyer is a one-person print and mail practice based in Kanab. I design the postcard, get it printed at a vetted press, and drop it at the post office in person. No account team, no client portal, no upsell to a website refresh you didn't ask for.

Most clients come in after a national printer turned their card into something that looked like a coupon flyer, or after an agency proposed a thirty-page deck for a thousand-dollar mailer. I do the opposite. A short conversation, a postcard the business is proud to mail, and a delivery report you can verify.

Direct mail is one of the slowest moving pieces of small-town marketing that still reliably works. People still check their mail. They still hold it before they decide what to do with it. A good postcard, mailed to the right neighborhoods, earns three full seconds of attention from someone you couldn't reach any other way. That's the whole pitch.

§ 02b · GROUP MAILING · DETAILS ORGANIZER-LED · ONE INVOICE

How a group mailing works.

For chambers, business associations, neighborhood committees, or anyone organizing a group of 2 to 8 local businesses to share a postcard. — One project, one organizer, one point of contact

You bring the group, and each business brings their own ad — logo, offer, and contact details, sized to a single panel on the shared card. I take the 2 to 8 panels, compile them onto the master postcard layout, prep the print proof, and run printing and delivery across the routes you pick. One project, one organizer, one invoice.

§ 03 · FROM THE GUIDE PLAINSPOKEN, NO FLUFF

What makes a postcard actually work.

Three seconds of attention from someone standing over a recycling bin. That's the whole window. The difference between a campaign that pulls and one that gets ignored is almost always in the design and the offer, not the size of the mailing list.

Whether you bring your own design or hire one out, the same rules apply. The guide walks through what works, how to size your mailing, and how to track whether it paid off.

§ 04b · COMMON QUESTIONS PLAINSPOKEN ANSWERS

Common questions.

How many homes should I mail?

We work in print runs of 500, 1,000, 2,500, or 5,000. For a neighborhood-specific promotion, 500 or 1,000 is usually plenty. For a city-wide push, 2,500 or 5,000 makes more sense. We pick routes by neighborhood with you during the quote, not by zip code. If your service area is smaller than the run, we mail what fits and you keep the extras.

How do I know which neighborhoods to target?

We pull route maps from USPS and review them together. Household density, demographics, proximity to your service area. If you already know the neighborhoods that drive your business, we start there. If you don't, I'll make recommendations based on what you're trying to do.

How long does it take from quote to mailbox?

Most campaigns run 14 to 18 days from go-ahead to delivery. About a week for design and proofing, four days for print, and another week for postal handling and route delivery. Rush work is possible when the schedule allows.

Can I bring my own design?

Yes. Simple Mailing is built for that. Custom Campaign is for clients who want it designed from scratch with copywriting and offer strategy included. If you're not sure which fits, send a note. Either way, the guide is worth reading first — it covers what makes a postcard actually work.

How do I know if it worked?

We build tracking into the postcard before it prints. A QR code linking to a campaign-specific landing page, a discount code that only appears on the card, a dedicated phone extension, or an offer that requires the customer to mention the mailing. Pick one, or combine them. The guide walks through how to size the response and what to look for after the card lands.

Can you mail outside Color Country?

Yes, anywhere in Utah on request. Pricing, design, and timeline shift a bit for out-of-region campaigns since the printer ships directly to the destination post office. Let me know your target area and I'll quote it.

§ 05 · ABOUT ONE OPERATOR · KANAB, UT
Saunders, owner of Utah Flyer, with his family in Kanab, Utah

Run by one person, on purpose.

I'm Saunders. I came up through trade work in Southern Utah before getting into design and digital, and I run Utah Flyer the way I'd want a service like this run if I were on the buying end of it.

Utah Flyer talks to business owners the way trade people talk to trade people, and treats a postcard like the small object it is, not a billboard miniature. Most of my clients are local trades, hospitality, and small retail, and most of them came back for a second campaign.

One operator means one phone number, one inbox, and one person who knows where the file is and when the truck leaves. It also means the calendar fills up. The practice runs a few campaigns at a time, and quotes go out in the order they come in.
